Wonka Audition Materials

10/2/2023

Dates
Auditions for speaking roles will be November 27th and 28th from 3-5pm. We have a signup sheet by Ms. Dallimore's room (110) where you will sign up for a time slot. Choose 1 character to audition with (your first choice).

Mandatory dance auditions will be November 29th from 3-6pm and are for everyone who wants to be in the musical (speaking roles & ensemble). Those who want to be in the ensemble will sing in groups at the Dance Auditions.

Everybody auditioning including those auditioning for non-singing roles will sing and dance at auditions.

Callbacks will be November 30th from 3-6pm. Remember, not all roles will be called back for.

Audition Materials
We have prepared audition scenes and a song for you to work on these next 2 months. Please be memorized as best as you can.

The MP3 of the song can be found in the character folders below. On the MP3, we have provided the guide vocals to help you learn the song and then immediately following is the same music without the guide vocals. At the audition we will only play the music without the guide vocals so be sure you are practicing with the MP3.

Choose a character that is your first choice and prepare the audition materials for that character. If you are struggling with any of the audition materials for a character, try out a different one. Find the one that fits you the best.

Audition preparation tips:
  • Don't procrastinate your preparation. Some of this music is tricky. You'll want to give yourself more than a week to prepare.
  • Be memorized as best as you can. It's hard to give a full performance while reading a paper.
  • Read the Audition page for tips to make your audition amazing.
  • Practice performing for your family and friends to get used to performing in front of an audience.
  • Record/video yourself and look at what you can improve.
  • We encourage you to read the book "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory" by Roald Dahl to get deeper insight into the story and characters.
