We're pleased to announce this year's musical, "Willy Wonka Jr."!
We are currently working on preparing the audition materials. Everyone will have a song to sing and all speaking roles will have a side to perform as well. Be thinking about which part you want to audition for. We know there are probably many roles you would like to play. For the sake of time, choose one that you like and suits your talents the best. On the audition form you can tell us what other roles are of interest to you. We will look at that list when casting the show. Hello parents!
We can't believe we have come to the end of our musical journey this year! We, as a musical team, are so grateful for all the parent help with concessions, lobby decor, set building and painting, ticket sales, posters, hoodies, flyers, costumes, cast party and the many other things that makes a musical complete- we couldn't have done this amazing show without all your help! Thank you!!! Just a couple of things as we conclude this year: 1. The party for cast and crew will be tomorrow in the auditorium from 3-5pm. Pizza and snacks will be served. We will be watching the students' performance from Thursday night on the big screen. Unfortunately, we can't release the video to the parents so please don't ask because we are sad about it, but since we can't take the cast to see the musical movie of Matilda, that is out right now and was our initial plan, we thought this was the next best option. We appreciate the Davis family making this happen for our students at the last minute! 2. We have some lost and found items so, if your child is missing something, have them check the lost and found table by the front office or check with us at the party. We had several jackets and coats left. 3. If you find any costumes you know are from the schools, just bring them to the front office and let them know they need to go to the drama dept. The Crunchem Hall shirts belong to the school. Some students thought they got to keep them, but sadly, no. A local school will be borrowing our costumes and props and why we need them back. Sometimes parents are helping clean rooms after the show has ended and they find costumes. 4. We will not be announcing next year's musical until the End of the Year Assembly in May and we are not sure at this time if we are keeping the December performance schedule or not. We will let you know when we do. You may want to check on our website periodically for updates: wjhtheatre.weebly.com 5. Here's the link to all the pictures from the photographer: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1uYcaV3IqVSd3qqJ9LOGDHbPoCf0z803n?usp=share_link you can download and print the pictures you want. We are hoping to put together some behind the scenes pictures into our musical drive and send you the link, but those won't be available until after winter break more than likely. 6. Your students will be sent home with a colored keepsake program from the show. 7. Students always ask what they can work on to prepare for the following year's musical, and we always say: take voice lessons, take dance lessons, take some acting classes and don't rest on your laurels from the previous year. All these things will help them in their audition. Please remember, if your child got a speaking part this year it does not guarantee them one next year. Each musical requires different talent and personalities on stage. You can also look on our website under "audition" for information: wjhtheatre.weebly.com Thank you again for all the time, energy, money and support to make this show happen so beautifully!!! We are so grateful for our parent volunteer- THANK YOU!!!!!!! We hope to see our 7th & 6th graders return and wish the 8th graders much success, and hope to see them on their respective high school stages next year :) Wasatch Musical Team Tonight is closing night and is always so bittersweet! We are so thrilled and grateful that Superintendent Dr. Nye was able to attend last night. He was so kind and it was wonderful seeing him interact with the students and taking pictures with them :)
For tonight, we really need any and all parents that can stay for a few minutes to help us clean up. One of our custodians had an emergency and won't be able to help clean. We need to get the big set pieces moved off the stage so that the orchestra can set up on the stage for their rehearsal on Monday to prepare for their concert on Wednesday. We also need help taking all the lobby decor down, taking items to the stage, sweeping the lobby and cleaning the auditorium. If we can have everybody stay for even 15-20 minutes we could get a lot done and fast and then everybody can go out and celebrate! We need students to take their PERSONAL costumes and costume bag home. Borrowed costume bags, girls jumpers, cardigans, skirts, ties and British pins, Crunchem Hall shirts, pajamas for the lookalikes, black shirts, MUST be left at school so please make sure they don't take them home- thank you so much! There will be labeled boxes for them to put the drama dept. costumes in. Our cast party will be this Thursday after school from 3-5 in the auditorium. We appreciate all your support and we are so proud of all of them!!!! The double dress rehearsal went well yesterday and we are so proud of all the hard work and dedication that has gone into making this show come together so beautifully. Thank you to all the parents that volunteered for the cast luncheon, it was a big hit! Thank you to all the parents who have helped with so many aspects of the show: your time, money and talent has been so impressive and we are very grateful!
The elementary performance will be Tuesday and so the students will be performing during 1st through 4th period and then they will go to 2nd lunch and will go to their 5th through 7th period classes. Students that have 1st lunch will be late to 5th period and teachers are aware of this. Students are marked as a released school activity when you view their attendance. They will come to the drama and music rooms on Tuesday. If students can come with their hair and makeup done it will create less stress that morning since we only have one parent volunteer for hair and makeup that day. Overall, the cast's hair and makeup were great yesterday- thank you! We only have one parent signed up to help Thursday and Friday night and no one on Saturday and with over 80 cast members it's going to be up to you to make sure your child's hair and makeup is done. Some students weren't wearing any makeup and it made them look "washed out" under the bright lights and we want to make sure they stand out on stage :) Here's the link we sent out last week to the makeup instructions: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1fTAftrlxQGU9o7usxOw2n-ogmTmUZ0nD7xCqPxRZB-0/edit?usp=sharing Please see the schedule below or look at the rehearsal schedule for times they will need to be at the school this week. You can find the ticket links and volunteer signups there as well. We could still use some more water and concession items if you are able: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/10c094eaaab22a7fcc07-matilda Thank you for supporting your students and this amazing show! https://wjhtheatre.weebly.com/ Monday, December 5, 2022 3:00pm-5:30pm Dress and Tech Rehearsal ALL CAST & CREW!!! Each cast member will be given 2 posters today- one for them to keep and one for them to put up in the community to advertise the show. They can be put up at stores, libraries, churches, dry cleaners, mechanic, workout facilities, etc.- just make sure the management is okay with you putting it up and thank you for helping spread the word about this incredible show and your talented children! Please read and follow the instructions below and thank you for supporting this incredible cast! Pre-sale for cast tickets will begin tomorrow, Saturday, November 19th at noon. During the pre-sale, you may purchase up to 6 tickets per cast/crew member, per show. The pre-sale will last from November 19th until Monday, November 21st. Tickets are $7 per seat for children and adults and does include the online processing fee we pay to the company to host the event. All sales are final. To purchase tickets, go to: https://wjhtheatre.weebly.com/tickets.html To purchase during the pre-sale, please enter the student's Student ID Number (also called their "9 Number") at checkout. If you have more people in your viewing party, you will have to wait until the general ticket sales open up. We realize you may not get to sit by all of your family/friends, but this process keeps it balanced so each cast member's family can get priority seating General ticket sales will begin on Monday November 21st at noon, after the pre-sale has closed. At that time, it will be possible to purchase any additional tickets needed. The musical team will not be able to assist you with ticket questions, so please email our wonderful ticket chair, Al Kinghorn: [email protected] We appreciate your help and support so much and if you are able to donate to concessions our concessions chair, Tara Petersen, has created a very helpful SignUp Genius for you to know exactly what we need. Label your donations "musical" and have your student or you can bring them to Ms. Dallimore's room 110. https://www.signupgenius.com/go/10C094EAAAB22A7FCC07-matilda If you have a business and want to donate items from your store or monetary funds email Tara: [email protected] We know there has been so much illness and that students are sad and frustrated when they have to miss rehearsal and we hope everyone is getting well and ready for a great show. The best way to combat performance anxiety is for the students to be here for the entirety of the rehearsal when they are well and able to be here. The students have been working so hard and we are down to only 8 rehearsals before the elementary performance. Rehearsals will be running until 6pm when we get back from Thanksgiving break so please plan accordingly to make sure they are here for the full rehearsal time. When students miss rehearsal it not only affects the whole cast, but makes them feel unsure about what to do and when to do it and leaving even a few minutes early takes away precious rehearsal time that is so valuable during this time where there's only a few rehearsals left. Thanks for your cooperation in making sure your students are here for the entirety of the rehearsal. You will want to send them with snacks to help them make it until 6pm. Thank you for supporting this incredible cast!!! We needed to make some rehearsal changes today and tomorrow so please check the schedule as it has been updated. There is no parent worknight this Thursday, but we are working on a few projects and would have contacted you if we need your help this week. Thank you!
***FINAL PARENT/STUDENT WORK DAY- Yay!*** Time change- 9am-2pm
We are hoping this is our last work day so anybody that can come tomorrow Sat. Nov. 12th from 9-1pm and then clean up out the door by 2pm would be great. It's a drop in and help so you can come for the whole time or an hour or two, whatever you have time for. If you want to bring your student to help along with you, that will be great. Park in the back parking lot- thank you! *We are going to be finishing painting boxes and set pieces so please wear your grubbies *We have a couple of other odds and ends to finish *Ms. Thompson will be working on ironing the decals on T-shirts in the science lab. We purchased irons so no need to bring yours unless you like yours :) *If anybody has letter stencils we can borrow to paint book titles on the boxes and a Crunchem sign on the gate that would be great or if you have artistic skills and can free-hand that would be wonderful. You can even drop them off if you don't have time to paint. We will be handing out the cast hoodies today so if the cast fee hasn't been paid your student will not be able to get their hoodie until that has been taken care of. You can pay on the Wasatch Website through Paypams: schools.graniteschools.org/wasatchjr/ If you have questions, you can call or message Charity Flanagan in the office 385-646-3701 or email: [email protected] If your student hasn't dropped off their costumes for their costume check because they were gone last Friday, please have them bring their labeled garment bag (put first and last name on tape and attach to front of the bag) to Ms. Dallimore's room 110 before or after school- thank you! We have had quite a bit of illness throughout the school and we want students at rehearsal, but if your student isn't well enough to come to school, they probably shouldn't be coming to rehearsal unless it's just a headache and are feeling better. We appreciate their dedication and know they don't like missing rehearsal, but rehearsal is a giant petri dish and so it is best to keep them home so they can get well fast and to protect the rest of the cast from getting their illness. If they are absent due to illness or other reasons, please email [email protected] Thank you to all of our amazing parents and students who have been volunteering their time! We had another great turnout last night and we really appreciate all of you!!! :) Ticket information will be coming soon. Thanks for your patience! We still need a few positions filled on Signup Genius including: hair & makeup help, lobby decor committee, boys' dressing room help, ticket salesperson on the 8th, and Stargram sales help. www.signupgenius.com/go/60b0844a8ac2fabf58-matilda Hello, Wonderful Musical Cast and Parents! Can you believe we are only a month away from our opening day December 8th! It is really important that students are coming to all their rehearsals since we are so close to opening and staying the entire time. If your student missed getting their costumes checked off, please have them stop by Ms. Dallimore's room 110 after school to get them checked off. This is important in case they are missing a costume piece or if it won't work for our mid 80s theme. If they need a garment bag, we have several they can borrow.
There is a rehearsal change- we need ALL of Miss Honey's class, Trunchbull, Big Kid 1,2 & 3 this Tuesday for Scene 6 from 3-4:30pm. It was previously listed as only the speaking parts in Miss Honey's class. It has been changed on the calendar. We are so close to being done with the set and painting so we have 2 parent work days this week. This Thursday from 5-8 pm and this Saturday Nov. 12 from 8-3 pm. We are going to be ironing a design on the T-shirts for the PE scene. If you have a Cricut or Silhouette and have "weeding tools" and/or an iron and could bring them so we could get them done quickly that would be amazing! If you want to bring your cast member to come help that would be great. Thank you! A HUGE THANK YOU goes out to all the students and parents that came out to paint and work on the set last Thursday. It was so fun! If any of you took any pictures will you email them to [email protected] so they can be included in the program under our pre-production photos. Another BIG THANK YOU to all the moms that came to help with our costume check day Friday! We appreciate you so much! We almost have all the volunteer positions filled, but need a few more filled so please go to www.signupgenius.com/go/60b0844a8ac2fabf58-matilda sign up today- thank you so much! We will have a link for ticket purchases and posters to put up around the area soon. Thank you for all your support! Parents & Cast Members,
We sent a letter home today with your students because we have had some emails addresses that are “undeliverable,” and we need to make sure everyone is getting the information as we are getting closer to the performance dates. There are things we need students and parents to do so, if you haven’t been receiving emails the last 3 weekends, you need to contact [email protected] and have us add you to the email list. An important email was sent Monday night regarding the costume pieces we need you to supply to complete their costume looks. You can also click this link to read the information: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1pYkMv42P3LQhXLCR5ZS5D5JTVgUkfMZIQQrQCvsvRs8/edit?usp=sharing Most items you will probably already have at home or can easily be purchased from a thrift store or Amazon. Students love being a part of finding some of their costumes. We are providing a lot of costumes, we just need help with a few things like pants, shirts, socks. We need students to bring ALL their costume pieces and shoes on Costume Check Day Nov. 4th (Friday). It’s on the rehearsal schedule as well. It’s super important you are checking your email each Sunday or the musical website for updated information for the week: wjhtheatre.weebly.com Students will not be able to receive their hoodie until their $40 cast fee is paid. So, if you have not done that yet, you can send your child with a check/cash to the front office pay or pay with a credit card or on the school website- there’s a button on the homepage that says, Paypams. Hoodies are going to be here around Nov. 7th. If you have any questions regarding the cast fee, please contact Charity Flanagan: [email protected] We have rearranged the rehearsal schedule so there will be no rehearsal on Halloween so students can go to the school dance after school from 3-4pm. Every Thursday night we work on painting or set building from 5-7pm if you can come help for an hour or two, we sure would appreciate it because there’s still a lot to do- thank you! Final item, there are still a few volunteer positions we need parents to sign up for. Click on the SignUp Genius button on wjhtheatre.weebly.com to sign up today. Thank you for all your help and support! We can’t do this without YOU!!! Wasatch Musical Team ***IMPORTANT***
Please fill out this google form for the Matilda Sweatshirts. Each cast member gets a Matilda sweatshirt for FREE this year. We just need to have everyone's sweatshirt sizes by tonight, Sunday, October 23rd. We really, really need help! EVERY Thursday night from 5-7 pm we work on painting and set building. We need solid colors painted on large boxes for the set decoration so, an easy, but time consuming project, just wear your grubbies. We need help with various other projects, so please come as we sure would love your help since the show will be here before we know it! If you want to bring your student, to help with you, that would be great! If you have any skill saws, please bring them- thanks so much! We so appreciate all the parents that have been helping :) We are getting so close to all the volunteer positions being filled, but still need a few. Thanks for your help since we can't do this show without our parent volunteers! Click on the link: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/60b0844a8ac2fabf58-matilda Please note, that cast picture day is now Sat. Dec. 3 from 3-4pm after the double dress rehearsal.
